Derbyshire, Leicestershire & Rutland Air Ambulance (DLRAA) are based at East Midlands Airport and cover an area of 2,100 square miles - roughly 1.4 million people. The costs of running a single air ambulance for a year can surpass £2m, and the DLRAA receive no Government or National Lottery funding to keep serving their communities, relying completely on private contributions.
